PSU in the NFL: Carl Nassib signs one-year deal with Tampa Bay

NFL reports say former Penn State star Carl Nassib is heading to Tampa Bay Bucs.

Carl Nassib is heading back to Tampa, and he’ll have a legitimate shot at winning a Super Bowl ring this time around.

Multiple reports on Monday around the NFL confirmed Nassib agreed to a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Bucs. Nassib was a free agent after being released by the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this year.

Nassib previously spent two seasons with the Bucs after his initial stint with the Cleveland Browns came to an end. In two years with the Bucs, Nassib recorded 12.5 sacks and 63 tackles with three forced fumbles in 17 regular season appearances. Nassib will also be reunited with Todd Bowles, the head coach of the Bucs. Bowles was Nassib’s defensive coordinator in 2019 in Tampa.

Nassib will also join fellow former Penn State players Chris Godwin and Donovan Smith. Nassib also joins a roster that includes the likes of Tom Brady at quarterback and Julio Jones at wide receiver. The addition of Nassib adds some needed depth to the defensive line.

The value of Nassib’s new contract has yet to be officially confirmed.
