Projecting Michigan football’s 2020 depth chart

Using both some inside intel as well as plenty of guesswork, here’s who we think will see the field for the Wolverines this fall.

Tight End

Nick Eubanks
Erick All (and/or) Luke Schoonmaker
Matthew Hibner

Contrary to what it used to be, the tight ends room isn’t nearly as deep as it was once upon a time. In 2016, it had Jake Butt, Sean McKeon, Nick Eubanks, Tyrone Wheatley Jr. and Michael Jocz.

With McKeon finally graduating, Eubanks should be the first man on the field. If Michigan starts in a two tight end set, either second-year man Erick All or third-year TE Luke Schoonmaker would be the other, depending on the play design. Both got involved quite a bit last year, and both should see quite a bit of time this year.

Don’t count out: The wild card would be true freshman Matthew Hibner, who rose significantly in the rankings after recruiting analysts got a chance to see more of the Burke (VA) product. Michigan tends to break in tight ends in their first year, and given the lack of proven production in the depths of the position, Hibner could see the field early and often.
