The Baltimore Ravens will be relying on a big season from second-year running back J.K. Dobbins. The former Ohio State University star burst onto the scene during his rookie campaign, rushing for 805 yards and nine touchdowns on 134 carries.
When naming candidates for big year two breakouts, Zach Tantillo of Pro Football Focus named nine players that could fit the bill. However, Dobbins wasn’t named among them. Instead, running backs Cam Akers and Antonio Gibson made the cut.
There are plenty of second-year running backs that will look to break out, including Dobbins, Akers, Gibson, Jonathan Taylor and more. It makes some sense as to why PFF wanted some positional versatility on their list, and they also could have put Dobbins in the “honorable mention” category because he already proved that he could play at the next level, and they wanted to highlight other players.
However, if this is PFF not believing that Dobbins has what it takes to break it, it’s yet another example of a Baltimore player not getting the respect that they deserve. Even so, the Ravens seem to like being the underdog, so they’ll do their work in silence and let their results do the talking.
