It’s that time of year again, folks. As the days pass in March, the NCAA Tournament inches closer. But first up is the SEC Tournament.
After earning the five seed, LSU got to sit back on Wednesday as the tournament began and the Tigers awaited their opponent. Vanderbilt defeated UGA and in the game of note to LSU, Missouri eliminated Ole Miss, setting up a Tigers vs Tigers battle on Thursday afternoon.
LSU fared well in the conference tournament last year, ultimately falling by one point to Alabama in the championship game.
Last season happens to be the only time the Tigers have won a game in the SEC tournament under Will Wade. The tournament didn’t take place in 2020 due to the onset of the pandemic and the Tigers dropped their opening games in 2018 and 2019.
Entering the week, LSU has already cemented itself as a tournament team. Even with a loss on Thursday, the Tigers season will continue. However, there is still some potential volatility when it comes to where LSU may be seeded.
LSU completed the regular season with a thrilling win over Alabama last week. With that victory, the Tigers carry some momentum down to Tampa.
