Players and coaches across college football want to play in 2020.
Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence led an online campaign on Sunday that resulted in the #WeWantToPlay movement.
On Monday, the positive momentum that Lawrence and other players created was noticed by U.S. President Donald Trump, who joined in on the online movement to have football this fall.

President Trump spoke on Wednesday during a news briefing at the White House and mentioned how he had spoken to LSU head coach Ed Orgeron about playing college football this fall, per Brooks Kubena of The Advocate.
“I spoke to some of the great football players, college players,” Trump said. “Trevor, and lot of great players called. Coach called. Coach O. Lot of fantastic people I got to speak to. Athletes. Leaders. They want to play football. Let ’em play. Let ’em play.”
An LSU official later clarified the President’s remarks that Orgeron was simply returning Trump’s call.
Clarity from an #LSU official on this: President Donald Trump called for Ed Orgeron, who later returned his call.
So, no, Orgeron wasn't reaching out to the White House on this. Trump has called Orgeron in the past, and they met at the White House after the national championship https://t.co/CCwyPBNymp

Trump and Orgeron have spoken via phone in the past after meeting at the White House following LSU’s national championship run.
The Big Ten and Pac-12 canceled their respective seasons on Tuesday. The SEC, ACC and Big 12 still plan to play this fall.
However, the ever-evolving COVID-19 pandemic could alter those plans.
But if one thing is certain, it’s that President Trump and Coach Orgeron are on the same page about a college season this fall.
