President Daryl Morey chimes in on James Harden’s future with Sixers

Team president Daryl Morey chimes in on James Harden’s future with the Philadelphia 76ers.

At the moment, the Philadelphia 76ers have bigger issues than the offseason to worry about. They have six weeks until the playoffs begin, and their focus is set on looking to make a deep run into the playoffs.

However, one has to wonder about the future of James Harden. The future Hall of Fame guard re-signed with the Sixers, but it was a 1+1 deal meaning he has a player option for the 2023-24 season. One has to figure he will opt out and look for more money as he continues to make a big impact out on the floor.

President Daryl Morey joined ESPN’s “SportsCenter” and he chimed in on Harden’s future:

I know he’s just focused on this season and not the offseason, but I know that he’s focused on winning the championship. He’s gonna be wherever he feels like he has the best chance. Obviously, his pairing with (Joel) Embiid is very, very good and we feel like it’s a great pairing for the long term.

There have been numerous reports Harden is very interested in returning to the Houston Rockets. The Rockets also believe a reunion is possible, but it wouldn’t make much sense for him. The Beard has done everything an NBA player can accomplish in the league except winning a title. The Sixers offer him the best opportunity to do so at this point in time.
