Prep standout forward Priyanka Ponnam offered by Rutgers women’s basketball

Priyanka Ponnam offered on Thursday by Rutgers women’s basketball.

Priyanka Ponnam was offered by Rutgers women’s basketball this week as the Scarlet Knights get involved with a class of 2025 standout.

She is a solid scorer and a legitimate, elite rebounder at the George School (Newtown, PA). At 6-foot-2 Ponnam has good footwork in the post, some nice range to her shooting and is a strong defender.

According to ESPN.com, Ponnam is a three-star recruit. Last season, she was named All-Class 5A third team.

Last season, she averaged 12.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. She is an all-around elite player.

Ponnam tweeted about the offer from Rutgers on Thursday:

This week, she has received offers from Boston College, George Washington, Northwestern, Providence and Richmond among others.

In what was a rebuilding year under first-year head coach Coquese Washington, Rutgers women’s basketball went 12-20 (5-13 Big Ten). It was a solid first year under Washington, who has a solid track record from her time as head coach at Penn State.
