A trip to the College World Series is on the line.
Texas looks to hold off No. 8 Stanford in Game 3 of the Super Regional on Sunday night. The Longhorns rallied in Game 1 to defeat the Cardinal in the ninth inning, but Stanford responded well and controlled Game 2 behind ace pitcher Quinn Matthews.
If David Pierce’s squad wins on Sunday, it will be Texas’ third consecutive trip to the College World Series. Tanner Witt is expected to be on the mound for the Longhorns in Game 3, which has been the focal point of Texas fans on Twitter hours leading up to the game.
Witt went through Tommy John surgery early on in the 2022 season. After a 14-month recovery, Witt returned to the mound in a limited capacity in May.
