Sooners Wire Staff Predictions
Can Oklahoma score enough points to win the game? That’s the question we’ll ask six times in the next seven weeks, as a disastrous offensive showing through the first half of the season has OU on the brink of a very rough season.
While South Carolina is good defensively, their offense has been up and down all season. This will very likely be an ugly game in Norman, as OU’s offensive problems don’t look like something that will go away in 2024.
The thing to look for is improvement from true freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr., who is making his third collegiate start. Hawkins has the tools to be great, and the Sooners hope that with more game reps the game will continue to slow down for the youngster.
Once again, this game will be on the shoulders of the Sooners defense. They’ll need to be elite if Oklahoma wants to win because you can’t trust the offense to do much of anything well right now.
Oklahoma 16, South Carolina 7
