Ok, we’ve covered the surprise cuts, and what the depth chart would probably look like if a game was played today. So, the next logical step is the practice squad.

This year, practice squads bump up to 12 players, half of whom can be vested veterans. This allows some players looking to make a comeback in their careers a better chance to do so. And with the rule for this season that the team can make two practice squad players available each week without activating them, should they choose not to, everyone wins.

The benefit there is previously if a team activated a player from the practice squad for a game, even if they didn’t end up playing, they would then have to waive the player and try to re-sign them if they clear waivers. In this case, they can have a couple players available ‘just in case’ and if they don’t end up needing them, no transactions will be needed.

Anyway, enough with the rules. Here are the 12 players from the Raiders cuts who I see making their practice squad.

RB Theo Riddick
WR Keelan Doss
WR Marcell Ateman
TE Nick Bowers
G Lester Cotton Sr
DI Datone Jones
DI Mike Panasiuk
DE Chris Smith
LB Kyle Emanuel
LB Javin White
CB Dylan Mabin
S (to be named later)
