When a recent report indicated multiple Western Conference contenders were interested in pursuing Spencer Dinwiddie, one team that came to mind was the Los Angeles Lakers.
The reining NBA champions — which also happens to be Dinwiddie’s childhood team — reportedly contacted the Brooklyn Nets about the guard back in February around the 2020 NBA trade deadline.
Of course, Dinwiddie stayed put, but his name has popped up frequently in the NBA trade rumor mill this offseason.
But it appears unlikely Dinwiddie will get the chance to suit up for the team he grew up cheering for in 2020-21.
The Lakers have “an agreement in principle on [a] deal” to completing a deal that would deliver them Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dennis Schroder, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Charania is reporting the Thunder will receiver the No. 28 overall pick in this year’s draft, while ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting Lakers guard Danny Green is also in the deal.
Lakers and Thunder won't be able to formalize the framework of deal until NBA's transaction moratorium is lifted on Monday. https://t.co/ZdS2WMvCM8

According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, the Lakers also “explored a deal” for Milwaukee Bucks guard Eric Bledsoe.
