Potential late addition to Notre Dame’s ‘22 recruiting class sets commitment date

The Irish 2022 class could add one more player

While many of us thought that the Irish were finished with the 2022 recruiting class, behind the scenes it seems like that is not the case. When Ohio running back Gi’Bran Payne signed his letter of intent with Indiana, we all thought that he would have ended up in Bloomington this fall.

That turned out not to be the case, as Payne asked for and was granted his release from his signed letter of intent from Indiana. He then started the process all over again and it looks like Payne has narrowed down his choices to Kentucky and Notre Dame. A visit to Lexington earlier this month went well but the Wildcats didn’t get a signature from Payne.

It doesn’t take much to put the tea leaves together, as not only was Payne visiting Marcus Freeman and the Irish this past weekend, he has set his announcement date for this coming Friday following the visit.

We will soon find out if the Irish start the weekend on the right foot on the recruiting trail.
