Duke Blue Devils freshman Trevor Keels announced on social media over the weekend that he will declare for the 2022 NBA draft and forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility.
Keels, who was named to the ACC All-Freshman team, averaged 11.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals on 41.9% shooting from the field in 36 games. He was third on the team in scoring and his 44 total steals were second-most.
The 6-foot-5 guard is considered to be a possible first-round pick given his 3-and-D potential. His 3-point shooting (31.2%) will need to improve to reach that mark, but the 18-year-old has the size and physicality to defend at the next level.
Brotherhood forever. Thank you Duke💙🙏🏽 pic.twitter.com/mFnh19Mhjx

Keels will have the opportunity to improve his draft positioning by participating in private workouts with teams. He also figures to be a strong candidate to earn an invitation to compete in the draft combine or NBA G League Elite Camp next month.
The NBA draft will take place on June 23.
