The Portland Trail Blazers (8-15) and Los Angeles Lakers (12-11) meet Sunday at Crypto.com Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Trail Blazers vs. Lakers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.
Season series: First meeting; Lakers won 3-0 in 2023-24
The Trail Blazers suffered an embarrassing 141-99 loss against Utah Friday as a 4-point favorite while the Over (223.5) cashed. The Blazers ended up hitting just 38.9% of their field-goal attempts while going just 64.7% (11-for-17) from the free-throw line.
Portland is 0-3 straight up (SU)/against the spread (ATS) in its last 3 games. The Over has gone 3-0, too, with Portland allowing 127 or more points in all 3 games.
The Lakers are coming off a 134-132 overtime loss in Atlanta Friday, although they did cover as 4-point underdogs while the Over (234.5) cashed. L.A. is just 2-7 SU in the past 9 games since Nov. 21, while going 2-9 ATS in the previous 11 outings.

Trail Blazers at Lakers picks and predictions
Prediction
Lakers 121, Trail Blazers 107
Moneyline
The Lakers (-400) will cost you 4 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not nearly enough return.
Of course, backing the Trail Blazers (+300) is not really an option, either. This is a banged-up side which just got curb-stomped by a bad Jazz team by 42 points at home last time out.
PASS.
Against the spread
Play LAKERS -8.5 (-110) lightly, although before you finalize your betslip, make sure to double-check to see if Davis and LeBron are playing.
Of course, the Trail Blazers +8.5 (-110) were so awful last time out, and they have a ton of injury issues, so it might not matter if one of the 2 bigs for L.A. sits out. If both Davis and LeBron are green-lighted to play, go a little more aggressively on the home side despite problems of its own lately.
Over/Under
OVER 224.5 (-110) might be the best bet Sunday.
The Blazers have been terrible on the defensive end in the past 3 games, allowing at least 127 points in 3 in a row. Portland has had difficulty scoring points, though, so that’s the concern.
While the Lakers have hit the Over in the past 2 games, allowing 134 points in each game, the O/U has split 5-5 in 10 home games. And, again, there is the concern with Davis and LeBron potentially sitting out, so circle back around to double-check before finalizing those plays.
