Portland State football coach Bruce Barnum is a man of his word. Recruits should recognize this when deciding whether to play for him.
Last week the coach went on a radio show in Oregon and said he would buy a beer for everyone who came out to the team’s game against Western Oregon last Saturday.
On Tuesday, Barnum posted the tab from Barny’s Beer Garden after the Vikings’ 21-17 victory.
It was a hefty one, to say the least.
The tune was 1,260 Coors Lights and 786 Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA.
The bill squeezed nearly $15,000 — $14,448 to be precise — out of the coach’s wallet.

A toast to Coach Barnum for making good on his boast.
"It blew up a little too much"
Bruce Barnum is picking up the tab for more than 2,000 beers.
His offer helped bring in more than 3,000 fans to Portland State's home opener vs Western Oregon. Here's part of our Sports Sunday interview.#GoViks | @psuviksFB | @psuviks pic.twitter.com/5dmPfS7IXx
