Porter Moser believes Sooners will correct turnover issues

Sooners did a better job of forcing turnovers but Moser believes they can fix their own turnover problems.

Turnovers have been a major problem for the Oklahoma Sooners in their losses. They force only six per game when they lose vs. a 12.8 overall average.

They also turn the ball over too much. On Wednesday, they turned it over way too much with 19. But they were able to force 16. It also played a big factor in the run they made to close the first half after falling behind by six. They ended up forcing five turnovers to close the half and take the lead.

Porter Moser spoke about how big it was for them to get back to forcing turnovers. “It truly was what we looked at first,” Moser said. “Were we active? We had like 16 or 17 deflections we talked about. We forced 16 turnovers. We’ve just got to be stronger with the ball. We’ve got a couple of guys that just need to be stronger with the ball. We’re going to.”

The 19 turnovers didn’t bite them in the win over West Virginia, but as we’ve seen, it will bite against good teams. Even with three more turnovers, the two teams were nearly the same in points-off turnovers.

That was at home, though. The Sooners now head on the road to face Cincinnati on Saturday. Another high turnover game like that probably doesn’t end well for the Sooners. It’s something that could hold this team back but Moser sounds confident it’ll get fixed.
