While the Jacksonville Jaguars have been dealing with their general manager and head coach search after they fired both Dave Caldwell and Doug Marrone, the AFC South has been in the headlines for various reasons. However, no topic within the division may be more noteworthy than Deshaun Watson, who many believe could find himself on the trade block after voicing his dissatisfaction about the Houston Texans’ hiring of general manager Nick Caserio.
In a nutshell, Watson reportedly was told he would have a say in the general manager and head coaching hiring process for the Texans. However, Caserio was brought in without the conversation involving Watson — and now we are here.
Conflict between a player and ownership is certainly nothing that Jags fans are unfamiliar with, especially when looking at the last two years. First, there was the Jalen Ramsey saga, which resulted in the Jags losing their star cornerback to the Los Angeles Rams for two first-round picks. After that was the Yannick Ngakoue saga where the Jags front office didn’t want to give the young pass-rusher a contract extension, which he felt was suitable for him.
Of course, neither situation helped the Jags. After all, they went 1-15 without both players who started and played key roles on defense.
Now, after seeing how both Ramsey and Ngakoue got away from their current situations, Watson may try and do the same, though it’s worth noting he hasn’t come forth to ask for a trade. Still, that doesn’t mean he won’t before the regular season.
All of that said, we want to hear from our readers on the matter. Do you all believe Watson will be traded? Let us know in the poll below which will be up for the next few days.
