There are certain players who all teams should at least inquire about if they ever hit the trade market. New York Jets safety Jamal Adams, who requested a trade Thursday, definitely fits that category.

The young star, who will be entering his fourth season in 2020, took to social media to voice his displeasure with the Jets organization as he’s currently looking for a contract extension. Apparently, discussions haven’t been going well in contract talks between Adams and the Jets’ front office and the rest is history.

For Jags fans, this is a story that sounds all too familiar.

As of late they haven’t been shy to ship players away with the biggest trade in  team history coming just last October as Jalen Ramsey was shipped to the Los Angeles Rams for two first round picks. This offseason, they also traded veterans Calais Campbell, A.J. Bouye, and Nick Foles. Oh yeah, and pass-rusher Yannick Ngakoue is disgruntled, too, and wants out.

Needless to say, Jags general manager Dave Caldwell has worked the phones quite a bit, and fans haven’t been too happy about his decisions although the case could be made that he got good value in his trade. However, with Adams on the market, it’s perhaps time to work the lines one last time before the regular season.

At just 24 years of age, Adams is arguably the best young safeties in football. Simply put, with an elite skill set he can do it all from covering to tackling, registering an 87.9 in 2019 via Pro Football Focus. When looking at the Jags roster, it’s clear they need more stars and Adams is the definition of that.
