The Vikings have a big decision to make when it comes to their starting running back.
Dalvin Cook is coming off a stellar 2019, where he had 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2019, which were career highs for him.
He was was reportedly planning to participate in the team’s virtual OTAs, which is a good sign for the team. Cook is heading into the final season of his rookie contract, and his contract extension will likely garner quite a bit of money for a running back.
According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, an extension for running back Dalvin Cook is next up for the Vikings. Based on the Vikings not drafting a running back, it seems like the team at least plans on having Cook for 2020.
The Vikings have come to a fork in the road with their young running back: extend him or let him walk. Extending Cook runs the risk of overpaying a player who’s been injury-prone in the past. Not extending means the team will move on without a large portion of its offense.
