Despite the abundance of trees in Hisui, wood is a pretty rare resource in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. You don’t need it for much — it’s mostly just something that’s necessary for a couple of requests and one part of the main story — but if you manage to make your way through the game without knowing where to find it… Well, let’s just say you probably won’t know where to start looking.

Fortunately, we’ve been more attentive to the Hisuian forestry than a bunch of professional tree surgeons, meaning we’ve got the optimal wood-collecting routes for every situation you might find yourself in. Whether you need wood as quickly as possible or have plans to build your own timber empire, we’ve got all the information you need.

Disclaimer: While wood is available in all five areas of Hisui, we’re going to focus on where to get wood early, where to get wood quickly, and where to get multiple pieces of wood in one place.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to get wood in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

If you’re looking for wood to complete the request Anvin gives you at the Craftworks, there’s a good chance you might still only have access to the Obsidian Fieldlands map. If that’s the case, you can definitely get wood — but we only know of one place where it spawns, meaning you’ll need to reset the map three times in order to collect enough pieces to craft a Pokéshi doll.

You can get wood in the Obsidian Fieldlands by visiting the location marked by the red arrow in the screenshot below. It can be found in the Deertrack Path area, near the river that you can cross to reach Horseshoe Plains.

If you collect three pieces here and craft a Pokéshi doll for Anvin, he’ll reward you by gifting you his version of the same doll. You can sell both of these at the general store for a combined value of $2,000.

If you’re further into Legends: Arceus and aren’t bothered making the trek to Deertrack Path, you can find wood much faster by heading to the Coronet Highlands.

When you spawn into the base camp — the one you initially use when you arrive in this location — simply head straight until you reach the statue of Probopass. Turn right and walk until you reach the area with Yanma in the screenshot above — if you get lost, you can also consult the screenshot below to see the exact location for the wood.

This is a handy way to get wood quickly, which means it’s ideal for anyone who is in a rush to get a single piece. If you need more than one piece of wood though, you should probably make your way to the Cobalt Coastlands.

The Cobalt Coastlands is the third area you unlock in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. While there are lots of secrets here — it’s where you catch Manaphy — perhaps the best-kept one is a landmass tucked away on the other side of Veilstone Cape.

As well as being home to rare Pokémon like Piplup, Toxicroak, and Hisuian Growlithe, this area is also where you’ll find the Spring Path leading to Giratina. To get in here, you’ll need access to either Sneasler or Hisuian Braviary, and the Renegade Pokémon won’t spawn there until after you defeat it in the postgame. Still, the cliffs surrounding Spring Path and Turnback Cave are lined with trees, several of which have wood beneath them. You can collect at least three or four pieces of wood on every visit here, making it the ideal place to go when you need wood for Cogita in the postgame.
