The most important part of the NFL 2020 free agency period is behind us which means it’s time to start looking at the NFL Draft. Jags Wire contributor Phil Smith and I did just that in episode nine of “Bleav in the Jags” where we were joined by a special guest in occasional Jags Wire draft evaluator Nick Trist.
This week, we discussed the possibility of the Jags taking a quarterback early in the draft as CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco mocked Utah State’s Jordan Love to the Jags, while a few others have slotted them other first-round quarterbacks. In all probability, there could be a run on quarterbacks within the top-10 selections but would the Jags be bold enough to take him or another signal-caller?
Afterward, we discussed a plethora of prospects to watch for the Jags when they make their first three selections. Now that the most important part of free agency is over, the picture is more clear for Jacksonville who brought in starters in linebacker Joe Schobert, defensive lineman Rodney Gunter, and maybe even last week’s acquisition in tight end Tyler Eifert.
Lastly, we discussed what would surprise us in terms of an early selection as general Dave Caldwell is a person who moves in silence.
