Lance Leipold enters his sixth season as head coach at Buffalo.
Leipold guided Buffalo to its first bowl victory in 2019. The Bulls have been bowl eligible the last three seasons under his guidance in a rebuilding job.
Buffalo defeated Charlotte in the Bahamas Bowl to conclude the 2019 season, the 49ers are Tennessee’s first scheduled opponent in 2020.
Leipold came to Buffalo after an eight-year stint as head coach at his alma mater, Wisconsin–Whitewater. He won six Division III national championships as head coach with Wisconsin–Whitewater.
The current Buffalo head coach also spent time at Nebraska as an assistant (2001-03) and Wisconsin as a graduate assistant (1991-93).
