Playstation’s Shuhei Yoshida reveals his favorite indie games of 2021

Indies rule.

In a year that saw numerous delays of high-profile video games, indie titles came in and saved the day.

Shuhei Yoshida, head of Playstation’s indie division, sure seems to think it was a solid year for smaller-scale games. Over on the official Playstation Blog, Yoshida shared which  indie games  lit a fire under him in 2021.

Yoshida’s favorite indie games of 2021 were:

  • Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights
  • Chicory: A Colorful Tale
  • Doki Doki Literature Club
  • Puzzling Places
  • F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch
  • Hades
  • Kena: Bridge of Spirits
  • Song in the Smoke
  • Jett: The Far Shore
  • Death’s Door
  • Solar Ash
  • Among Us

Pretty solid list, all told. Several of these titles, including Hades and Doki Doki Literature Club, were available on other platforms like  the Nintendo Switch  before 2021 but didn’t come to  PS4 and PS5 until recently.

Anyone more keen on big-budget titles for Playstation will be happy to know that Sony has several heavy hitters in store for 2022. Horizon Forbidden West  is due out pretty soon, complete with terrifying robotic lizards. Meanwhile, rumors tell of God of War Ragnarok  coming sometime next fall. Then, of course, there are  third-party games like Elden Ring.
