We might see the Boston Celtics back on the court sooner than expected, if we can get past the fact the “court” will be not hardwood, but pixels.
Or more specifically, a Celtic, in the singular — whoever is elected to serve as proxy in a players-only NBA 2k tournament. Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes reports such a tourney is in the works, and could get underway as soon as this coming Friday, April 3.
The details are still thin, but the hope is for each team to have a representative, presumably from that team when possible.
The contest will be broadcast on ESPN, and is an intriguing option to help fans stay connected with their favorite sport and teams while the league continues to work towards a safe, live-action return to action.

No word at present who would represent Boston, but logic would dictate the team’s gaming aficionado — veteran forward Gordon Hayward — would be at the front of the line.
