Knoxville’s Peter Malnati finished +4 after first-round of play. Sergio Garcia (-7) is atop the leaderboard after Thursday’s competition.

Malnati’s tee time on Friday is set for 6:45 a.m. EST from hole No. 1.

Malnati resides in Knoxville and played collegiately at Missouri from 2007-10.

He joined the PGA Tour in 2014 and has one career victory, winning the 2016 Sanderson Farms Championship.

Entering the Players Championship, Malnati has finished in the top-25 26 times, has seven top-10 finishes and has one second-place result. He has participated in 168 career PGA Tour events, while making the cut 83 times.
