When the summer began, the Chicago Bulls were hoping to bounce back from their elimination in the play-in tournament. Arturas Karnisovas stated that they had no desire to rebuild the roster. Instead, the Bulls would spend the offseason working to put a playoff-caliber roster around their current core of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic.

In addition to re-signing Vucevic, they also brought back Coby White. In free agency, they signed Torrey Craig and Jevon Carter, the latter of whom grew up in Maywood, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The veteran guard is very excited to play for his hometown squad.

“Free agency is free agency. Business is business. Just trying to find somewhere where the number made sense. And the Bulls came calling, and it made a lot of sense to me,” Carter said. “I’ve always dreamt of playing for the Chicago Bulls. I’ve always dreamt of playing at home. And now that it’s actually the reality, I’m smiling from ear to ear.”

Carter is coming off a career season with the Milwaukee Bucks. The 27-year-old guard averaged 8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 42.3% from the field and 42.1% from behind the 3-point line.

He’s expected to take over as Chicago’s starting point guard next year, leading the way with his relentless approach on the defensive end and great three-point shooting.
