The Philadelphia 76ers had a big challenge in front of them on Saturday night. In the finale of a 4-game road trip, the Sixers took on a tough Chicago Bulls team who has been playing well as of late and had already knocked off Philadelphia earlier in the season. The Sixers were also missing Joel Embiid for a fourth consecutive game.
The Sixers put up a serious fight in this one as they have constantly shown under the guidance of coach Nick Nurse, but they ultimately came up short in the final game of the 2023 calendar year. The Bulls walked away with a 105-92 victory led by DeMar DeRozan with 24 points.
Tyrese Maxey led the Sixers with 20 points and seven assists, Tobias Harris added 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, Kelly Oubre Jr. added 11 and five rebounds, De’Anthony Melton had nine, and Nic Batum had nine in his return from a hamstring strain. Paul Reed added 11 and six rebounds with four steals. The Sixers looked like they had tired legs all night and shot only 39.1% from the floor compared to 50.6% for Chicago.
