PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers played host to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday evening looking to get back in the win column. They entered the night losers of seven of their last eight games and were looking for anything positive to move back in the right direction again.

It didn’t happen on Friday, but they can at least get a pass in this one due to the players missing and the debuts of Buddy Hield and Cam Payne. Tyrese Maxey joined Joel Embiid, De’Anthony Melton, Nic Batum, and Robert Covington on the sidelines which led to Philadelphia sending out a brand new lineup with new additions. The Hawks led by as many as 22 on their way to a 127-121 win as they held off a spirited comeback effort from the Sixers.

Hield had 20 points and six assists in his debut for the Sixers, Payne added 20 points and six assists, Kelly Oubre Jr. had 28 and 12 rebounds, Tobias Harris had 21, seven assists, and six rebounds, Paul Reed had 12 and 13 rebounds, and Terquavion Smith had eight points.
