It’s hard to believe that we’re already here, but the Chicago Bears have just one game left in what’s been a miserable 2021 season. And the hope is that rookie quarterback Justin Fields will get to close out the year on a positive note.
Bears head coach Matt Nagy met with the media Monday, where he said the plan is to get Fields back as the starting quarterback in Sunday’s finale against the Minnesota Vikings.
Granted, that’s all dependent on how Fields’ ankle is feeling. Fields missed the last two games with that ankle injury suffered in Chicago’s last meeting against the Vikings back in Week 15.
“He’s put a lot of time and effort into this year,” Nagy said. “Into developing and becoming better as a quarterback. What this will enable him to do is finish on a high note.”

There’s certainly an argument to be made for resting Fields in the season finale as to not risk further injury in what’s a meaningless game. This offseason is going to be an important one for Fields, who will get to prepare as the starter heading into the 2022 season.
