P.J. Washington is unsure when he will return from finger fracture

The first-round pick has missed three games for the Hornets after suffering a fractured right pinky finger on Dec. 13 against the Bulls.

The Charlotte Hornets announced on Dec. 16 that forward P.J. Washington underwent successful surgery to address a fractured fifth finger on his right hand after injuring it against the Chicago Bulls three days prior.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that Washington was expected to be sidelined through Christmas, which would rule the rookie out of five games for the Hornets.

Washington has already missed three games for the Hornets as the team still has two more to play prior to Christmas Day. On Friday, Washington addressed the media and said that he hasn’t yet been given a timetable to return to the court.

The 13th overall pick added that the injury has been frustrating since he is unable to practice with the team but said that it has given him a chance to learn while sidelined.

Prior to the injury, Washington had started all 28 games for the Hornets and looked to be a bright spot for the team. Washington is averaging 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, connecting on 41% of his 3-point looks to this point.
