Pittsburgh improved to 2-0 on the 2021 season Saturday at Neyland Stadium.
The Panthers defeated Tennessee, 41-34, in the Johnny Majors Classic.
Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett completed 24-of-36 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns. He totaled 19 rushing yards on 10 attempts and scored one touchdown.
The Panthers scored in all seven red zone opportunities against Tennessee’s defense.
Following the contest, Pickett discussed Pittsburgh’s resilience and ability to finish in the red zone.
“That is something we focused on all spring and all camp, getting down there and putting touchdowns on the board instead of field goals,” Pickett said. “We want to improve, do better and continue to work on that.”
