The Pittsburgh Pirates (9-20) continue their series against the Milwaukee Brewers (14-17) at Miller Park on Saturday with a 7:10 p.m. ET first pitch. We analyze the Pirates-Brewers MLB betting odds and lines, with betting advice and tips around the matchup.
Pirates at Brewers: Projected starting pitchers
RHP JT Brubaker vs. LHP Brett Anderson
Brubaker hasn’t factored into a decision while posting a 4.80 ERA and 1.47 WHIP with 16 strikeouts across 15 innings in three starts and two relief appearances.
- Brubaker faced the Brewers last Sunday, allowing just two earned runs, four hits and a walk with a season-high six strikeouts over four innings in a no-decision result – the Pirates won 5-4.
- Brubaker hasn’t lasted longer than four innings in any of his five appearances, so the bullpen will be leaned upon heavily. Pittsburgh’s bullpen ranks 22nd in the majors with a 5.18 ERA.
Anderson is 2-2 with a 3.52 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP and 17 strikeouts across 23 innings in five starts.
- Anderson won his last two starts, yielding just three runs in 12 innings – he pitched six innings in each contest, winning at the Minnesota Twins 9-3 on Aug. 19 and beating the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 at home Monday.
- Anderson is 3-1 with a 2.73 ERA in five career starts vs. the Pirates. He faced the Bucs once in 2019, holding them to just one run on four hits and two walks in six innings of a 14-1 victory.

Prediction
Brewers 8, Pirates 6
Moneyline (ML)
The BREWERS (-189) exacted a little payback with a 9-1 win Friday to make up for a three-game sweep at the hands of the Pirates (+170) in the Steel City last weekend. The Bucs are just 8-20 in the past 28 against left-handed starting pitchers, so look for the good times to continue to roll for the Brew Crew.
New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on the Brewers returns a net profit of just $5.29, while a $10 play on the Pirates returns a profit of $17 if they prevail.
Run line/Against the spread (ATS)
The BREWERS (-1.5, +105) are worth a look. They won by eight in Friday’s series opener, and they have covered the run line in three of their past four victories.
Over/Under (O/U)
OVER 9 (-106) is the play. The Over hit Friday night, and the Over is 4-1-2 in seven meetings between these two clubs this season. There’s no reason to believe a pitchers’ duel will suddenly break out in this one.
