The Penguins were on the short end of a 7-5 offensive showdown with the Boston Bruins on Saturday afternoon. That two-goal loss in Beantown slapped the brakes on a five-game winning streak for the Pens.
The Rangers lost 3-2 in a shootout against the Buffalo Sabres, and they’re just 2-2-1 across the past five outings. New York likely isn’t keen on facing Pittsburgh again, as they have won just once in the first six meetings (1-3-2).

Tristan Jarry (15-8-2, 2.79 GAA, .910 SV%) vs. Igor Shesterkin (9-8-2, 2.27 GAA, .925 SV%)
Jarry has been dealing with an upper-body injury, but he is reportedly fine. Of course he did anything he could to face the Rangers again, as he is 3-0-0 with a 2.27 GAA and .926 SV% in three starts against New York this season.
Shesterkin was in the crease for Saturday’s 3-2 shootout setback in Buffalo, but he gets the nod again. He hasn’t lost back-to-back starts since Feb. 24-28. While he is just 1-1-1 in three meetings with the Pens this season, he has a solid 2.30 GAA which is right in line with his overall numbers.

The PENGUINS (+100) are a solid play at even money behind Jarry, who hasn’t been tripped up against the Rangers (-115) so far this season in three previous meetings.
The Pens are 5-2 in their past seven as an underdog, and 7-2 in the previous nine against teams with a losing overall record.

Against the spread (ATS)
The Penguins +1.5 (-275) are a little on the expensive side if you’re looking for insurance. Just play the money line instead, as Pittsburgh isn’t worth risking nearly three times your potential return.
AVOID.
Over/Under (O/U)
UNDER 6 (-105) is a great play, as Jarry and Shesterkin are each playing very good goal.
The Under is also 4-1 in Pittsburgh’s past five games on the road, while cashing in nine of their past 12 games overall.
While the Over is 4-0 in New York’s past four at MSG, the Under is 7-3 across their past 10 against teams with a winning percentage over .600.
