The North Carolina Tar Heels had 11 days off after the loss to UConn in Madison Square Garden to fall to 7-2 on the year. But Saturday’s opponent was another tough one as they faced off against Kentucky in the CBS Sports Classic in Atlanta.
And from the start, Kentucky controlled the game and the tempo as they held off a late Tar Heels run for an 87-83 loss. The loss dropped North Carolina to 7-3 on the year and 6-4 in the CBS Sports Classic all time.
It’s another one that stings for Hubert Davis’ team, despite fighting back from double-digits down and even taking a one-point lead, UNC really couldn’t control the game as Kentucky hit big shot after big shot. The game had a bit of a March feel to it with two Blue Bloods going at it.
