Saturday’s contest kicked off Southeastern Conference play for both teams and is the first loss for Tennessee in 2023. The Vols defeated Virginia and Austin Peay to open the season.
The matchup was the second between head coaches Josh Heupel and Billy Napier. Heupel and the Vols defeated Napier’s Gators in 2022, 38-33, at Neyland Stadium.
