The Tigers’ perfect start to the season came to an end on Sunday.

The Tigers’ perfect start to the 2022-23 season came to an end on Sunday as Kim Mulkey’s No. 3-ranked squad lost its first game of the year against No. 1 South Carolina in a battle of the nation’s lone remaining unbeaten teams.

The Gamecocks jumped out to a quick 18-2 lead in a rough first quarter for LSU. The Tigers fought back and brought the game within five points in the third quarter, but South Carolina ultimately pulled away for an 88-64 win.

LSU falls to 23-1 on the season and 11-1 in SEC play, but the Tigers could likely be in line for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and may get the chance to avenge this loss in the SEC Tournament.
