The Washington Huskies fell victim to a familiar set of issues in Saturday’s 31-17 loss in Bloomington to the No. 13 Indiana Hoosiers. Coach Jedd Fisch’s team started slow, lost the penalty battle, struggled along the offensive line, and failed to stop the run in the second half.
With the loss, Washington fell to 4-4, giving the program more losses in its first Big Ten campaign than it suffered in the last two seasons combined.
Although the Huskies have outgained their opponents in every game this season, winning the yardage battle 318-312 in Bloomington, it hasn’t translated to a winning streak in Fisch’s first season at the helm or even consistently finding the end zone, as the Huskies rank No. 13 in the conference in scoring, averaging a meager 23.3 points per game.
Now, Washington gets to return to the friendly confines of Husky Stadium for the first time in nearly a month, as they haven’t played in front of their home crowd since Oct. 5, which is also the last time they won a game, beating the Michigan Wolverines 27-17. With the USC Trojans coming to town, the Huskies have a chance to get back on track on Nov. 2.
