If you squint very hard, you can see the vision for the sort of team that will one day surround San Antonio Spurs rookie wunderkind Victor Wembanyama. But it is very difficult to squint hard for 48 minutes of game time, and that, in a nutshell, is why the Spurs were blown out by the Boston Celtics 117-98 at TD Garden on Wednesday night.
The game was actually competitive early in the tilt, Boston getting separation midway through the first quarter and pulling away for good in the second. The Celtics’ perimeter defense continues to be among the most fearsome in the league as they held another opponent to atrocious 3-point shooting numbers, this time 20.6% for the Spurs. San Antonio losing the rebounding battle by 13 despite having Wemby on the court did not help their case, but San Antonio acquitted themselves by walking a 30-point lead down to a “mild” blowout in the process.
Let’s take a look at some of the best moments captured in images in the Celtics’ 41st game of the 2023-24 NBA season vs. the Spurs.
