The Boston Celtics grabbed a 106-99 road victory against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. The Celtics now hold a 3-0 series lead with a chance to win the 2024 NBA Finals and an 18th title in franchise history this Friday night.
The Mavericks were more aggressive in this game, especially in the opening period. The star duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving appeared to be more dialed in than in previous games in the series, bolstering Dallas’ entire offense. Boston hung tough, however, using a 35-19 third quarter to jump ahead and take control of the game. Not only were the Celtics able to overpower the Mavericks on offense in the second half, but Boston’s defense prevented Dallas from completing a comeback in the fourth quarter. It was a physical, gutsy victory for the Celtics.
