PHOTOS: Best from the No. 8 Iowa Hawkeyes’ win over Belmont

Despite an end-of-game injury scare against Kansas State, Caitlin Clark was back and No. 8 Iowa topped Belmont on Sunday, 73-62.

After an injury scare on the game’s final play against Kansas State, Iowa star point guard Caitlin Clark was back on Sunday against Belmont.

The Hawkeyes got back on the winning track, topping Belmont by the final score of 73-62. After initially needing help to exit the court during last week’s loss at Kansas State, Clark was back and not showing a lot of ill effects from the ankle injury she sustained against the Wildcats.

In fact, Clark netted her season high of 33 points, registering 25 points after halftime during a 10-of-18 shooting performance from the floor. Clark connected on 3-of-7 3-point tries.

Meanwhile, Monika Czinano added nine points and 10 rebounds as the Hawkeyes improved to 4-1 on the season.

“Our crowd was outstanding today. We have such a good homecourt advantage. Man, when we were in that third quarter when we got on that roll and Caitlin hit those threes, I mean, that place was so loud. It’s just it’s so great and it’s such a fun environment to play in. I thought our defense improved from the Kansas State game,” Iowa head women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder said afterwards.

Next up for Iowa is a pair of games in the Phil Knight Legacy College Basketball Tournament from Portland, Ore. The Hawkeyes play Oregon State on Friday, Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and either Duke or No. 3 Connecticut on Sunday, Nov. 27.
