So much that theory of a trap game.
Oregon’s focus was solely on California even with USC and the reigning Heisman winner scheduled to visit Autzen Stadium next week. The Bears could have only hoped the Ducks were looking past them, but no dice.
When the clock reached zeros, the damage was done as Oregon crushed California 63-19 in front of over 54,000 fans inside Autzen. The Ducks were 9-of-9 in the red zone with the nine touchdowns and 10-of-14 on third downs, stats Dan Lanning would take every single week.
But nine penalties were about seven too many to the Ducks’ likely and that needs to be cleaned up before the Trojans come to Eugene. USC’s offense is too good and will make Oregon pay for those miscues.
The Ducks can worry about that later as they can celebrate the big win over Cal, the last meeting between the two teams in quite some time.
