Auburn’s new interim coach was quite the star for the Tigers in the early 2000s.

Auburn University President [autotag]Christopher Roberts[/autotag] made the decision Monday morning to fire Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin after a 9-12 start to his tenure.

Late Monday afternoon, it was announced that Carnell “Cadillac” Williams would take over as interim head coach for Auburn’s final four games of the 2022 season. It will mark the first head coaching gig for Williams, who has served as the Tigers’ running backs coach since 2019.

Williams is a beloved figure to Auburn fans due to his success as Auburn’s running back from 2001-04. During that span, he rushed for 3,831 yards on 741 carries, scoring 45 career touchdowns.

He was a vital part to Auburn’s 2004 undefeated season, and he would go on to be drafted No. 5 overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2005 NFL Draft.

As Williams prepares to lead the Tigers for the first time, here is a look back at his best moments as a player for Auburn.
