NFL teams continue to make cuts to get their rosters down to 53 players, with the Philadelphia Eagles announcing they have cut former Clemson wide receiver Deon Cain.
Cain was the USFL Championship game MVP this past season, catching four passes for 70 yards and three touchdowns, adding 101 return yards in the Birmingham Stallions’ 28-12 win over the Pittsburgh Maulers. He was a star in the USFL and earned another shot in the NFL.
Cain is coming off a performance where he led the Eagles in their final preseason game with six catches for 62 yards. Former Clemson wide receiver Joseph Ngata remains on the roster.
During his time at Clemson, Cain recorded 130 receptions for 2,040 yards and 20 touchdowns over 42 games (14 starts).
