The 2021-22 season for Philadelphia 76ers guard Furkan Korkmaz was a peculiar one. Armed with a three-year deal he signed in the offseason, the expectation was for him to be a fixture in the team’s rotation and be a big part of whatever this team did on the floor.
At the beginning of the season, that appeared true. He was a big part of Philadelphia’s bench unit as the backup point guard amid the Ben Simmons saga, and he was knocking down 42.6% of his 3-pointers through the first nine games.
After that, Korkmaz’s shooting fell off a cliff. He was no longer needed as a backup ballhandler with the return of Shake Milton, and he fell out the rotation late in the season and throughout the playoffs.
