PFN ranks Colts in Tier 3 among ‘possible division winners’

Pro Football Network ranked the Colts in Tier 3 among ‘possible division winners.’

Most are expecting a two-way race for the AFC South during the 2021 season between the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans, both of which were ranked in Tier 3 by Pro Football Network.

Ranking NFL rosters into tiers, the Colts came in at No. 15 overall in the “possible division winners/playoff contenders” tier along with 11 other teams. The Titans were at the top of the tier coming in at No. 9 overall.

“15) Indianapolis Colts

The Colts have the best overall roster in the AFC South, but they have a massive question mark at quarterback that has the PFN staff wary of their floor. That’s why they sit in the middle of the NFL power rankings heading into 2021. If Carson Wentz plays average, this team most likely wins 11 games and makes the playoffs. If he plays as he did in 2020, this team will struggle to win eight games. His issues are fixable, but it will take some mechanical tweaks and a cleansing of the mind.”

As has been the case throughout the offseason when ranking or projecting how the Colts will do in 2021, it all comes down to the quarterback play they get from Carson Wentz.

Even with their strong roster overall, there are plenty of questions surrounding the quarterback position. The Colts have faith that Wentz will thrive with new scenery and the mechanical improvements he’s tried to make this offseason.

If Wentz is able to return to form, the Colts will have a shot at winning the division.
