PFF rates Anthony Harris the highest-graded safety; Harrison Smith ranks fourth

PFF gave high grades to both Anthony Harris and Harrison Smith for their efforts in 2019-20.

The Vikings have two safeties who are coming off great seasons, and Pro Football Focus has taken notice.

PFF ranked Anthony Harris a grade of 91.1 out of 100. Harris was the highest-graded safety in the NFL last season. Close behind was Harrison Smith, who received an 88.4. He ranked fourth out of safeties across the league last season.

Harris finished tied for the league lead in interceptions with six. He also had 11 pass breakups. Smith had three interceptions and 11 pass deflections.

It’s hard to determine what the future holds for Harris. He is entering free agency, and because of his stellar 2019-20, he will command a very high price on the market. The Vikings might not have the money to keep Harris on the team, especially with the way the salary cap looks at the moment.

Smith, however, is still under contract, so whichever safety is paired with him on the defense will have an easier time due to his ability.
