PFF ranks Colts’ Kenny Moore among top coverage CBs in 2024

Through 10 weeks, Pro Football Focus ranks the Indianapolis Colts’ Kenny Moore among the best coverage cornerbacks this season.

Through 10 Weeks, the Indianapolis Colts’ Kenny Moore is among Pro Football Focus’ highest-ranked cornerbacks this season.

Following his performance this past Sunday against Buffalo, Moore jumped from No. 16 in these cornerback rankings to No. 12 heading into a Week 11 matchup with the Jets.

Factoring into these rankings is each corner’s coverage grade from PFF, along with their Successful Coverage Over Expected metric, measuring how well a defender performed on non-targeted coverage snaps. Also taken into consideration is who the cornerback is matched up against.

At the top of the list so far this season is Baltimore’s Marlon Humphrey, the New York Jets’ DJ Reed, and Buffalo’s Christian Benford.

As he has throughout his career with the Colts, Moore continues to do a little bit of everything for this defense, including playing both from the slot and out wide depending on what alignment they are in.

Coverage-wise, he’s allowed 29 completions on 44 targets, which isn’t uncommon for a primary slot presence, but where Moore has really excelled is limiting those pass-catchers to just 7.1 yards per catch, illustrating how tight he is in coverage.

Moore also came away with his first interception of the year this past Sunday, and has three pass breakups in total, along with 35 solo tackles, including 10 run stops–the fourth-most among cornerbacks.

Awaiting Moore and the Colts’ secondary this Sunday is a Jets’ offense, that while it has had its ups and downs, still features Aaron Rodgers at quarterback along with Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams at wide receiver.
