Talent acquisition is a 365-day job for an NFL GM. They are constantly in contact with other teams about potential deals and are always evaluating their own roster. So what might Dave Ziegler try to accomplish in the upcoming weeks? What about trading one of his own players away to free up cap space?

In a recent article by Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus, he took a look at a few players that could be on the move now that some teams have more cap space after June 1.

That list included Pro Bowl wide receiver Hunter Renfrow, who the Raiders might consider moving after signing Jakobi Meyers to a big free-agent deal this offseason. Here is a snippet of why Spielberger believes the Raiders could deal Renfrow:

Renfrow has two years and $19.11 million remaining on an extension signed last offseason, which won’t break the bank necessarily but also isn’t as cheap as it may appear, given the poor wide receiver market this offseason — particularly with primarily slot receivers. Renfrow dealt with injuries throughout the 2022 season and posted career lows in receiving grade, receptions and receiving yards.

Teams like the Saints, Falcons, and Panthers (all NFC South squads) were mentioned as possible destinations for Renfrow should the Raiders decide to move him this offseason. The Saints do make the most sense given his connection with Derek Carr and their need for a slot receiver.

While nothing is set in stone, it does seem like the odds of the Raiders trading Renfrow have increased after June 1 now that a few teams have more cap space. Don’t be surprised if we hear more buzz about the Raiders trading their Pro Bowl slot receiver at some point this year.
