PFF metric shows how bad the Patriots’ passing offense has been

Things can’t get much worse than this, right?

The New England Patriots caught a stray by how bad they’ve been on offense. A recent metric from Pro Football Focus showed how inconsistent the passing offense has been for the organization.

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins leads the NFL with 21 catches of 10-plus yards this season. The Patriots have 17 catches of 10-plus yards this season as a team. Tight end Hunter Henry is the team’s leading receiver with 148 yards on the season.

The Patriots passing offense struggled again on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. They recorded 168 total yards through the air and dropped their third straight loss.

The Patriots organization needs to find a spark in their passing offense. They have shown the ability to establish things on the ground, but getting things going through the air has been a major problem.

The Patriots will get to see Collins up close and in person when they face the Texans in Week 6.
