The hype surrounding the Washington Football Team’s interest in North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance continues to gain steam.
Earlier this week, former NFL general manager and current analyst Mike Lombardi said on his podcast that Washington loved Lance, and he could see the WFT trading all of its picks for a major move up the draft board.
In the latest mock draft by Pro Football Focus, Washington moves from No. 19 all the way to No. 4 and selects Lance.
PFF didn’t indicate what Washington would give up in this trade, but it cost San Francisco a combined three first-round picks and a third-round pick. The 49ers moved from No. 12 to No. 3.
While some believe Washington will make a major move up the draft board, others do not.
Washington head coach Ron Rivera has stated multiple times this offseason how important it is to find your quarterback of the future. However, he has also stated that Washington likes its multiple options for 2021, allowing it to be cautious but aggressive if the right player is available.
The 2021 NFL draft begins on Thursday, April 29.
